It is common knowledge that trying to get dental treatment through the NHS is getting harder and harder. The 2 main barriers are:
- Very few people actually qualify for free or subsidised NHS treatment. Details of ‘Who can get free NHS dental treatment or help with dental costs’ are contained on the NHS website, link below.

- Even if you do qualify, there aren’t enough NHS dentists to go around. The NHS website also provides a ‘Find a dentist’ service, but don’t be too over-optimistic that you will find one near you! The private sector seems to be growing whilst the NHS option is shrinking.
